Look Around You turns 10
Robert Popper and Peter Serafinowicz's wonderful mock-educational-film-parody BBC2 show "Look Around You" celebrated its 10th anniversary this week. Robert writes,
We had a fantastic night at the BFI in London, which showed all 8 eps back to back. The amazing Jonathan Ross hosted the evening, and our brill director, Tim Kirkby, joined us for a fun Q and A. It was a really touching, lovely event full of our old crew members and Look Around You aprreciators. Thanks all for coming. It meant a lot to us.Anyway, Peter and I made a new short especially for the evening. So, here it is for everyone else. Hope you like our ‘Intermission Film’…
Congratulations, Robert and Peter! I raise a glass of sulphagne to toast your achievement. Also an interview for Boing Boing with Peter and Robert on the occasion of "Look Around You" DVD release.
Thants.

Movies from an Alternate Universe
I simply love these. There is not a single one that I would not go to see - even if I wouldn't see the "original" version. All artwork (brilliantly) created by Peter Stults [details at bottom of post] found via Behance.
This is from the site:
Awhile back a friend of mine forwarded me a site (http://hartter.blogspot.com/2009/11/misc.html)where an artist had made posters of films that, title wise, we were familiar with, but there was a slight difference; they were remade as if they belonged to a different era or a different genre, the name of the movie was there, but the actors were different, the style was different, and I loved the concept. So I went forward with this theme; what if movies we were all familiar with were made a different slice of time? Who would be in it? Who would direct it? So here we are...

Things That Pissed Me Off Today
I shall remain silent
Several film-goers in Liverpool
demanded a refund after seeing award-winning throwback film The Artist because
they were “unaware that The Artist was a silent film.” Patrons of the Odeon
Liverpool One reportedly asked for their money back upon realizing the film
contains no spoken dialog and is presented on a smaller screen. The Artist,
which just landed 12 BAFA nominations after picking up a Golden Globe for Best
Motion Picture (Comedy/Musical), pays homage to the silent-era films of the
20s. A Daily Telegraph source says Odeon Liverpool One ushers are now required
to ask paying customers walking into The Artist if they are aware the film is
silent.
